WELCOME BACK Washington Colony Families and Students!

The district has been very active planning for the best and safest way to educate our Washington Colony children keeping at the forefront the health and safety of students and staff.   The district has developed two instructional models for reopening the school in the fall; a Blended Model and a 5-Day Distance Learning Model. Due to the Governor’s Newsom July 2020 announcement, and COVID-19 cases in Fresno County, Fresno County has to be off the watch list for 14 Days in order to bring students in person with a Blended Model.   Moreover, schools must continue following the Social Distancing Guidelines set by the CDC, CADPH and Fresno Department of Public Health.  Therefore, as of August 18, 2020 Washington Colony School will begin its first day of school with a Robust 5-Day Distance Learning program with live virtual lessons from our WC Teachers.  We have opportunities ahead of us in order to connect with students and families and address students learning loss and to target student social & emotional needs that have occurred due to the school closures in the Spring.  Our district will have the opportunity to address these stated needs in the new accountability model; Learning Continuity & Attendance Plan provided by CDE.

Over the past years as a district and as Title 1 school, Washington Colony has made a great progress in the academic achievement of all WC students and on our school facilities.  There will be unforeseen challenges ahead of us this coming year but with confidence I envision that we will work together as a Washington Colony Family, we will continue to serve our students and parents of this great Easton community.  Therefore, the district will continue to emphasize the instructional program related to the standards-based ELA/ELD, Math, Science, instructional technology learning activities, guided reading and early literacy, Reading, Writing Across Curriculum that will be integrated within the Blended and the 5-Day Distance Learning models.  Washington Colony will continue to collaborate with the After School Program and provide a Virtual/Interactive tutoring academic program and a positive school climate through the PBIS program.  The necessary support systems for all students during the 5-Day Distance Learning are available such as Reading lab support and the online supplemental Reading STAR/Accelerated Reader (AR) program.

All for Youth socio-emotional support services and Psychologist services will be available on an on-call basis, please call the school if you need assistance.

The WCESD district has planned a Virtual “Back to School Night” on Monday, August 17, 2020 from 6:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The First Day of Distance Learning School is scheduled for August 18, 2020.  Students should be available for Virtual Distance Learning Instruction from 8:30am – 2:30 pm.

“Grab and Go” Breakfast and Lunch will be available on weekdays Monday - Thursday.  On Thursdays Friday meals (Breakfast and Lunch) will be included.

Breakfast and Lunch will be available between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

With the Five-Day Distance Learning Plan beginning August 18, the accompanying work packets will be ready for you to pick up in the familiar Grab and Go format. Be assured that the work packets are identical to assignments received during remote instruction.  The paper and pencil work can be completed when students have issues with connectivity or per their preference. The scheduled packet pick-up and packet return will be available as long as the Five Day Distance learning Plan is in place.

“High quality learning experiences are what students deserve to build the future”
